SICK!

Just a little four letter word.  Or at least that’s what you’re taught. It’s the world you use for allergies, senioritis, or when you are just trying to get out of things.
It feels like yesterday was the day it affected her.  She remembers the day as she sat on the exam table in the box sized doctor’s office infected with cotton swabs and smelling of rubber gloves waiting for him to return.  It seemed as though days had passed as she sat there, yet it had only been 45 minutes, until my doctor entered the room with three others.  She doesn't remember much after that moment.  All she can remember are the looks on their faces, disappointment, shock and utter sorrow, which are still etched in her mind.  Their looks told her all she needed to know....  Imagine just turning 19 and having your whole life flash before your eyes.  The only thing going through her mind at that moment was: 'How am I going to tell my family this?'

That’s the day she got labeled as sick.  Just a simple four-letter word changed her life.
